Travel RN Job Details – Cardiac Telemetry/Stepdown

  • Location: Johnson City, NY 13790 (New York healthcare jobs)
  • Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: 12/18/2025 – End: 3/14/2026)
  • Clinical Setting: Med/Surg Telemetry, Stepdown/Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
  • Shifts: 12-hour day shifts, 3 shifts per week (36 hours/week), every other weekend required
  • Estimated Weekly Pay: $2200 - $2360
  • Employment Type: Travel Registered Nurse (W2)

Registered Nurse Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Active New York State RN License (required for New York nursing jobs)
  • BLS Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross)
  • ACLS Certification
  • Completion of a telemetry skills checklist
  • Minimum 1 year of recent RN experience in cardiac telemetry or stepdown/PCU
  • Clinical experience with TAVR, Watchman, mitral clips, heart catheterizations, pre/post-op open heart (post CVICU transfer), cardiac IV/PO, cardiac drips (cardizem, amiodarone, dobutamine, lidocaine, milrinone, heparin, insulin), anticoagulants, CHF, CP, arrhythmias, NSTEMI, STEMI, PE, post-op CABG (>3 days), sepsis, PNA, stroke, observation patients, TR band use, groin management, and complication management
  • Excellent collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills
  • Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and specialty nursing certification

Travel Nurse Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, delegate, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care for cardiac telemetry and stepdown/PCU patients
  • Serve as primary or accountable nurse for assigned patients
  • Educate patients and families on health promotion and cardiac disease management
  • Safely administer medications and demonstrate clinical pharmacology proficiency
  • Ensure compliance with nursing standards and healthcare regulations
  • Participate in unit council, quality improvement, and peer review initiatives
  • Engage in professional development and continuing education
  • Integrate nursing research and evidence-based practice into patient care
  • Support onboarding of new employees and nursing students in a collaborative healthcare environment
  • Complete required skills checklists and perform additional duties as assigned
