Key Responsibilities — Hospital Billing & Patient Financial Advocacy
- Screen patients for financial assistance programs, including NJ Charity Care and New Jersey Medicaid eligibility.
- Provide patient financial counseling and explain insurance benefits, coverage options, and self-pay responsibilities.
- Navigate hospital billing and revenue cycle processes to ensure timely, accurate claims submission and follow-up.
- Collaborate with clinical staff, case management, and administrative teams to support continuity of care and accurate patient records.
- Maintain accurate documentation and data entry in electronic health record systems per hospital policy.
- Deliver compassionate, patient-centered support for families facing financial barriers to care.
Required Qualifications — Medical Biller / Revenue Cycle
- Minimum 2 years experience in healthcare revenue cycle, hospital billing, or medical billing and reimbursement.
- Practical knowledge of health insurance plans, products, and claims adjudication; experience with NJ Charity Care and Medicaid preferred.
- Basic medical terminology, coding principles, and continuity of care protocols.
- High School Diploma required; additional billing or healthcare certifications a plus.
- Experience with EPIC, IDX Flowcast, HealthQuest, or similar EHR/revenue cycle systems is advantageous.
Preferred Skills
- Strong communication and customer service skills; ability to explain complex financial information to patients.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and experience maintaining accurate billing documentation.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced hospital environment serving the Camden / Philadelphia area.
