- Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:3 for stepdown patients and 1:5–6 for medical-surgical patients
- Charting: EPIC
- Dress Code: Royal blue scrubs
Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse license eligible for practice in West Virginia
- At least 1 year of recent acute-care, cardiac stepdown, telemetry, or medical-surgical nursing experience
- Current BLS certification
- Demonstrated ability to recognize and respond to changes in cardiac and patient status
- Proficiency with telemetry monitoring and interpretation of cardiac rhythms
- Comfort caring for patients requiring titratable intravenous medication infusions
- Ability to work night shifts, weekends, and holidays as scheduled
- Willingness to float to other appropriate units based on staffing and patient-care needs
Travel Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to cardiac stepdown, telemetry, and medical-surgical patients in an acute-care setting
- Assess patients, develop individualized care plans, administer medications, and evaluate responses to treatment
- Monitor telemetry, read and interpret cardiac rhythms, and promptly report significant changes
- Safely manage and titrate ordered intravenous drips according to established protocols
- Care for patients who may require ventilatory support, including collaboration with in-house respiratory therapy
- Coordinate care with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, nursing assistants, and other members of the care team
- Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in EPIC
- Promote patient safety, education, comfort, and continuity of care throughout the assignment
