Experienced Physician Assistant with cardiothoracic surgery and EVH skills: join a collaborative hospital-based team in Flagstaff, Arizona.

This 13-week locum tenens opportunity is ideal for a Physician Assistant with at least three years of recent cardiothoracic surgery experience, including endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH). Support adult and geriatric patients in the CVICU and step-down units while collaborating with surgeons and interdisciplinary care teams. Cardiothoracic Surgery PA Job Requirements

  • At least 3 years of recent cardiothoracic surgery experience, including proficiency with endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH)
  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program approved by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  • Current NCCPA certification or certification eligibility
  • Active or eligible Arizona Physician Assistant license
  • Current ACLS and BLS certifications from the American Heart Association
  • Current DEA registration
  • Recent case logs and documentation of relevant cardiothoracic surgery experience
  • Ability to complete required locum tenens credentialing within the designated timeframe
  • COVID-19 and influenza vaccination required; exemptions may be considered in accordance with applicable requirements

Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistant Responsibilities

  • Provide cardiothoracic surgery support under the direction of the surgeon
  • Manage adult and geriatric patients in the CVICU and step-down units
  • Assist with cardiothoracic surgical procedures and provide perioperative patient care
  • Perform temporary pacemaker removal, chest tube removal, and intra-aortic balloon pump removal
  • Perform arterial line placement and other procedures within scope of practice
  • Apply advanced cardiothoracic surgery knowledge and EVH expertise to support positive patient outcomes
  • Complete accurate clinical documentation in Cerner
  • Participate in scheduled call coverage and collaborate closely with surgical and interdisciplinary care teams
