Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) Specialist / CDI RN needed for a fully remote position. Seeking an experienced CDI RN with EPIC EMR & EPIC CDI expertise; CCDS preferred. 13-week inpatient contract starting June 8, 2026 — weekly pay $1,870–$2,078.   • Contract Duration: 13 weeks
  • Hours: 40 hours per week
  • Shift: 8.5-hour shifts, 5 shifts per week (self-scheduling between 6:00am and 5:30pm, 30-minute lunch)
  • Setting: Inpatient (acute care)
  • Travel: First-time travelers accepted; local and out-of-state candidates welcome

CDI Specialist Job Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of recent CDI (clinical documentation improvement) experience
  • At least 5 years clinical experience in ED, ICU, or Telemetry (8 years combined clinical experience required)
  • Active New Jersey RN license or compact RN license
  • Must pass Clinical Competency Exam prior to interview (Zoom call with hiring manager)
  • Experience with EPIC EMR and EPIC CDI software required
  • Experience with Solventum end coder software preferred
  • Advanced understanding of anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, pharmacology, and clinical workflows
  • Preferred: CCDS (Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist) certification
  • Knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS, DRG principles, and coding impact on quality and reimbursement is a plus
  • Current clinical documentation specialist experience and strong communication/collaboration skills required

Primary Responsibilities

  • Serve as a liaison between the Chief Medical Officer, Health Information Management, inpatient coders, quality officers, coding management, and physicians
  • Review and complete an average of 11 inpatient charts daily to support accurate documentation and coding
  • Ensure accuracy, specificity, and completeness of clinical documentation to support patient care, quality reporting, and reimbursement
  • Utilize advanced clinical knowledge to clarify diagnoses, procedures, and clinical indicators through physician queries and real-time communication
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to implement CDI initiatives, improve documentation quality, and drive better patient outcomes
  • Participate in education and training for clinical staff and coders on documentation best practices and CDI processes
  • Monitor CDI and coding metrics, identify documentation trends, and recommend process improvements
