Job Description
Inpatient Medical Coder - On-Site | Louisville, Kentucky
We are seeking an experienced inpatient medical coder in Louisville, Kentucky for a 30-week on-site medical coding contract supporting a Level 1 teaching and trauma care environment. This on-site inpatient coding role is ideal for a detail-oriented hospital coding professional who can accurately code a wide variety of inpatient chart types, apply CPT coding standards and inpatient coding guidelines, and maintain productivity in a fast-paced acute care setting.

Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,221 - $1,356
- Employment Type: On-Site Contract
- Schedule: 5 shifts per week
- Shift Duration: 8 Hour Days
- Hours: 40 hours per week
- Start Date: 7/8/2026
- Assignment Length: 30 weeks
- Schedule Options: Tuesday-Saturday or Sunday-Thursday
- Weekend Commitment: Must commit to one weekend day each week
- Work Setting: On-site inpatient medical coding for a Level 1 teaching and trauma care environment in Louisville, Kentucky
Inpatient Medical Coder Job Requirements
- At least 1 year of inpatient medical coding experience required
- Experience coding all chart types in an inpatient hospital setting
- CPT coding experience required
- Ability to maintain productivity expectations of 2-3 charts per hour
- Experience working with 3M 360 and Cerner preferred
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to coding accuracy
- Ability to work independently and efficiently while meeting deadlines in an on-site environment
Inpatient Coding Responsibilities
- Review and assign accurate inpatient medical codes for a variety of chart types
- Apply inpatient coding guidelines and conventions to ensure compliant documentation and billing support
- Utilize 3M 360 and Cerner systems to complete coding workflows efficiently
- Maintain expected productivity while preserving a high standard of quality
- Collaborate with internal teams as needed to clarify documentation and support coding accuracy
- Manage assigned work queues and complete coding tasks within established turnaround times
- Support consistent, high-quality coding operations in a complex acute care hospital environment
