Epic Bridges & Healthcare IT Requirements

  • Epic Bridges Certification (required) — experience with Epic Systems EHR and Bridges interface tools
  • Minimum 5 years of data conversion and integration experience in healthcare (Epic data conversion preferred)
  • Minimum 5 years working with relational databases and SQL (MSSQL, PostgreSQL)
  • Experience with at least two complete Epic implementations from end-to-end on the data conversion team
  • Hands-on experience with multiple AIKs (patient, encounters, PAMI, lab, imaging, notes, vitals, scanned documents, future appointments/orders, guarantors, insurances, charges)
  • Proficiency with Epic Text Utility and Bridges interface development
  • Familiarity with HL7, CCDs, CCDAs, delimited flat files, imaging and document conversions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; experience communicating with clinical and technical stakeholders
  • BS or MS in Informatics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or equivalent healthcare IT experience

Key Responsibilities — Data Conversion & Integration (Epic Bridges)

  • Lead data conversion and EHR integration activities using Epic Bridges and related tools for Epic Systems implementations
  • Collaborate with customer subject matter experts, application teams, and third-party vendors to design conversion requirements and interface standards
  • Act as the technical lead for data conversions: perform business analysis, clinical workflow review, and mapping design
  • Create and maintain technical specifications, mapping documentation, and project deliverables
  • Develop, implement, and train teams on automated validation and reconciliation methods for data conversion and ingestion
  • Design and implement process improvements to increase conversion efficiency and data quality
  • Manage interface error queues, proactively review errors, and coordinate fixes with application and clinical teams
  • Perform SQL data modeling and produce conversion outputs (delimited flat files, CCDs, HL7 messages, images, etc.)
  • Utilize Epic Bridges and Text Utility for all data conversion interfaces and troubleshooting
  • Provide ongoing technical guidance to team members, mentor junior analysts, and troubleshoot complex issues
  • Monitor project progress, provide daily status updates, and take ownership for timely task completion
  • Work flexible hours as needed to support critical data conversion windows and cutover activities
  • Communicate professionally and responsively with customers and internal staff to ensure high-quality results
