Job Requirements / Qualifications

  • Active RN license (Registered Nurse) required — state of Vermont license or multistate (Compact) RN preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department/ER nursing experience required; 3–5 years preferred for night shift ER roles
  • BLS certification required; ACLS and PALS certifications preferred
  • Ability to work night shifts and every other weekend
  • Strong clinical assessment, triage, and critical thinking skills for fast-paced ED environment
  • Comfortable working independently and collaborating with interdisciplinary healthcare team members
  • Willingness to attend quarterly department education sessions and participate in ongoing nursing education

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality emergency nursing care to patients in the ER/ED
  • Assess, triage, and monitor patients with acute, urgent, and emergent medical conditions
  • Stabilize and prepare patients for transfer or admission as needed
  • Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary healthcare team members
  • Administer medications, treatments, and nursing interventions as ordered
  • Document patient assessments, interventions, and clinical procedures accurately in the EMR
  • Participate in continuing education and department training to maintain ED nursing competencies
