Emergency Department Travel Nurse (RN) – 13-Week Contract in Salem, MA
Join a 65-bed Emergency Department as an experienced Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) on a 13-week travel nursing contract in Salem, Massachusetts. This on-site travel assignment offers the opportunity to care for a diverse patient population in a pod-based department with dedicated pediatric and acute mental health areas. Located on the North Shore, Salem combines coastal New England charm, historic character, and convenient access to Boston-area amenities.
Travel Nursing Job Details
- Location: Salem, Massachusetts
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,020–$2,130
- Assignment: 13-week Emergency Department travel nursing contract
- Start Date: November 1, 2026
- End Date: January 30, 2027
- Schedule: Three 12-hour shifts per week; 36 hours weekly
- Shift: Night shift, 7:00 PM–7:30 AM
- Department: 65-bed Emergency Department with approximately 230 visits per day
- Patient Population: Patients of all ages and acuity levels
- Charting System: EPIC ASAP
- Floating: May be required to the 16-bed Emergency Department Observation wing and Acute Mental Health area
Emergency Department Travel RN Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Massachusetts
- At least 2 years of recent Emergency Department nursing experience
- Current AHA-certified BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
- Strong emergency nursing assessment, prioritization, and critical-thinking skills
- Experience with IV insertion, phlebotomy, EKGs, cardiac monitoring, point-of-care testing, splinting, documentation, and patient education
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a high-volume emergency care setting
- Willingness to rotate between day and night shifts when requested; the primary night position does not routinely rotate
- NRP and TNCC certifications are strongly preferred
Emergency Department Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide safe, compassionate, and efficient emergency nursing care to patients across the lifespan
- Perform focused and comprehensive patient assessments, identify changes in condition, and escalate concerns appropriately
- Initiate and maintain IV access, collect laboratory specimens, perform phlebotomy, and administer medications according to orders and policy
- Obtain and interpret basic EKGs, monitor cardiac rhythms, and respond promptly to changes in patient status
- Perform point-of-care testing, splinting, wound care, and other general emergency nursing interventions
- Document assessments, interventions, reassessments, and patient responses accurately in EPIC ASAP
- Support care coordination and patient flow in a busy, pod-based Emergency Department
- Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, discharge instructions, and follow-up care
- Float to the Observation wing or Acute Mental Health area as needed while maintaining high standards of patient care
