Job Requirements
- MD or DO, Board Certified or Board Eligible in Obstetrics & Gynecology
- Active California medical license (or eligibility to obtain) — CA license strongly preferred for locum tenens OB/GYN roles
- Minimum 1 year of recent OB/GYN clinical experience; recent Labor & Delivery and operative delivery experience required
- BLS and PALS certifications required
- Experience managing low- and high-risk pregnancies (high-risk experience preferred)
- Proficiency in fetal heart rate interpretation (NST/CST/FSE) and intrapartum fetal monitoring
- Ability to perform and interpret OB ultrasounds (Level I required, Level II preferred)
- Experience with vaginal deliveries, operative vaginal deliveries (forceps/vacuum), C-sections, breech and multiple births
- Competence in third- and fourth-degree laceration repair
- Comfort with office and minor gynecologic procedures (IUD insertion/removal, colposcopy, LEEP, cystoscopy, cryosurgery)
- Proficiency in surgical gynecology (open, laparoscopic, and major operative procedures) when needed
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive labor and delivery coverage as a hospital-based Laborist — primary OB/GYN physician for in-house obstetric care
- Manage routine and complicated deliveries; make timely decisions for cesarean delivery and operative management
- Evaluate and manage obstetric emergencies (e.g., abruptions, preeclampsia, hemorrhage, shoulder dystocia)
- Perform and interpret OB ultrasounds and continuous fetal monitoring to support maternal-fetal care
- Conduct office-based gynecologic procedures and urgent gynecology care as needed
- Perform surgical gynecology cases when indicated (open, laparoscopic, and major surgeries)
- Collaborate closely with anesthesia, neonatology, nursing, and ancillary services to ensure coordinated, high-quality patient care
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the EMR for all patient encounters and communicate care plans with the multidisciplinary team
