Travel Surgical Technologist Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,030–$2,190
• Location: Wausau, Wisconsin
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Start Date: November 2, 2026
• Schedule: Five 8-hour shifts per week, Monday–Friday
• Shift Duration: 8-hour day shifts, approximately 6:30 a.m.–3:00 p.m.
• Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week, subject to orientation, holiday closures, and low-census provisions
• Call Requirements: One night of call per week, one weekend of call per month, and one backup call assignment per week; 30-minute response time required
• Healthcare Setting: Hospital surgery department with cardiac and thoracic surgical services
• Electronic Medical Record: Epic

CVOR Surgical Technologist Job Requirements

• At least 2 years of recent cardiovascular operating room (CVOR) experience
• Previous travel surgical technologist assignment experience required
• Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential through NBSTSA or NCCT
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate degree or surgical technology certificate is preferred
• Recent cardiac and thoracic surgical experience required
• Thoracic robotic surgery experience preferred
• Ability to respond to call within 30 minutes and work rotating weekend and holiday call assignments
• Flexible, resilient, motivated, and comfortable supporting the surgical team during periods of downtime
• Travel assignment eligibility may require residence outside a 50-mile radius of the facility

CVOR Surgical Technologist Responsibilities

• Prepare and efficiently set up operating rooms for cardiac, thoracic, and other surgical procedures
• Review case carts and verify that all required surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment are available
• Scrub surgical cases across multiple specialties, with a primary focus on cardiac and thoracic procedures
• Support thoracic robotic surgery procedures as qualified
• Maintain sterile technique and anticipate the needs of surgeons and the cardiovascular surgical team
• Turn over operating rooms efficiently between procedures
• Assist with cleaning, stocking, case cart preparation, and other surgical department tasks during downtime
• Float to other designated locations within the health system when operational needs require
• Participate in scheduled call, backup call, weekend, holiday, and occasional additional mandated call coverage
• Respond promptly to callback needs and support safe, efficient cardiac and thoracic surgical operations
