Required Qualifications

• Current National Medical Assistant Certification (CMA) required
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required (AHA preferred)
• High school diploma or GED required
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a healthcare or outpatient clinic setting (medical assistant experience preferred)
• Flu vaccine required
• Must live at least 50 miles away from the facility (travelers only)
• Ability to make independent decisions within scope of practice
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency with EMR systems and common medical equipment (BP cuff, pulse oximeter, EKG, cardiac monitor, manual defibrillator)

Primary Responsibilities

• Collect and accurately document patient information, medical history, and vitals to support provider workflow
• Maintain and update patient medication and immunization records in the EMR
• Perform specimen collection, POCT, and lab draws following protocols
• Administer immunizations and injections within scope of certification
• Prepare exam rooms, set up supplies and equipment for exams and minor procedures
• Assist providers and clinic nurses during procedures and patient visits
• Recognize and respond to signs or symptoms requiring prompt intervention and escalate per policy
• Support clinic flow to maximize provider time and enhance patient experience in an outpatient/primary care clinic
• Transport patients within the facility as needed and ensure safe patient handling
• Participate in training, cross-coverage, staff meetings, and unit goal-setting to support continuous improvement
• Comply with safety, infection control, and risk management responsibilities
• Other duties as assigned in this travel medical assistant role
