Travel Clinical Dietitian (Pediatrics) opportunity in Houston, TX 77094: deliver evidence-based Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) in a pediatric hospital and ambulatory setting.
Join a collaborative healthcare team in Houston, TX as a Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN), supporting a mix of ambulatory and acute care areas. In this travel contract role, you’ll complete nutrition assessments and reassessments, develop individualized nutrition care plans, and provide patient/family education—bringing strong pediatric nutrition expertise, including specialized pediatric formulas.

- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,470–$1,580 per week (estimated)
- Location: Houston, TX 77094 (on-site). This area offers convenient access to everyday dining and shopping options, along with nearby parks and green space for downtime after shifts.
- Setting: Pediatric hospital environment; coverage across ambulatory and acute care
- Start Date: 03/09/2026
- End Date: 06/13/2026
- Duration: 14 weeks
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM; includes participation in RD call schedule
- Shift Duration: 8 hours
- Hours per Week: 40 (guaranteed)

Requirements (Registered Dietitian / Pediatric Dietitian)
- Experience: Clinical dietitian experience in hospital and/or ambulatory settings is helpful; pediatric clinical nutrition experience is a plus
- Credential: Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) – Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) (required)
- License: Licensed Dietitian (LD) – State of Texas (required)
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree (required)
- Core Skills: Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT), nutrition assessment/reassessment, nutrition care planning, and patient/family education
- Pediatric Nutrition: Pediatric clinical nutrition knowledge, including specialized pediatric formulas
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with clinical documentation and computer tools (word processing, spreadsheets, and nutrition/clinical programs)
- Language: English (read/write/speak)
Responsibilities (Clinical Dietitian – Pediatrics)
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nutrition care plans for pediatric patients across ambulatory and acute care areas.
- Perform age-appropriate nutrition assessments for patients identified at nutrition risk, including diabetes management support, within established timeframes and guidelines.
- Reassess patients at appropriate intervals and adjust the plan of care based on clinical status, tolerance, and outcomes.
- Provide Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) and evidence-based recommendations, including use of specialized pediatric formulas when indicated.
- Adapt nutrition plans to meet economic, social, cultural, developmental, and age-appropriate needs of patients and families.
- Deliver age-appropriate nutrition education; assess learning needs and readiness to learn for patients/families.
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary care team and partner with experienced dietitians to support continuity and quality of care.
- Participate in the development and review of patient education materials and departmental resources for the populations served.
- Document nutrition assessments, interventions, education, and outcomes clearly and timely per facility standards.
