Qualifications / Job Requirements

• Registered Dietitian (RD) credential from the Commission on Dietetic Registration (required)
• Licensed Dietitian (LD) — Texas Department of Licensing (required)
• Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field (required)
• Minimum 1 year of RD experience; hospital or pediatric clinical nutrition experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of pediatric nutrition, clinical nutrition, and medical nutrition therapy (MNT)
• Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, nutrition software, and electronic medical records (EMR)
• Effective English communication skills (read, write, speak) for patient education and interdisciplinary collaboration

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nutrition care plans for pediatric patients
• Perform age-appropriate nutrition assessments and reassessments for patients at nutrition risk
• Provide medical nutrition therapy (MNT) and nutrition counseling for conditions such as pediatric diabetes and growth/nutrition disorders
• Adapt nutrition plans to meet economic, social, cultural, and age-specific needs of patients and families
• Educate patients and families, assessing readiness to learn and tailoring teaching materials
• Participate in development and review of patient education materials and department resources
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams across ambulatory and acute care areas and participate in RD call coverage
• Document nutrition care and interventions accurately in the EMR according to hospital standards
