Clinical Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) – Travel Contract in Oakland, California
Position Overview: Join a collaborative hospital nutrition team as a Clinical Registered Dietitian supporting adult and geriatric patients in Oakland, California. In this on-site travel healthcare role, you will provide evidence-based medical nutrition therapy, nutrition assessments, patient education, and diabetes self-management education while partnering with interdisciplinary care teams. This 13-week Registered Dietitian contract offers an opportunity to deliver high-quality inpatient and outpatient nutrition care in a vibrant East Bay community known for its diverse culture, acclaimed culinary scene, arts, parks, and convenient access to the greater San Francisco Bay Area.
Registered Dietitian Job Details
- Location: Oakland, California 94609
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,770–$1,900
- Assignment Type: 13-week travel contract
- Start Date: October 26, 2026
- End Date: January 25, 2027
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Schedule: 5 shifts per week
- Shift: 8-hour day shifts, approximately 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Weekend Requirement: Every third weekend
- Work Setting: On-site hospital environment
- Orientation: 16 hours
Clinical Dietitian Job Requirements
- At least 2 years of recent, relevant Registered Dietitian or Clinical Dietitian experience
- Registered Dietitian or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RD/RDN) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Bachelor’s degree in Food and Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field; equivalent education or experience may be considered
- Experience providing inpatient and outpatient medical nutrition therapy
- Experience with diabetes self-management education preferred
- Experience using electronic health records; Epic experience required
- Strong knowledge of nutrition assessment, therapeutic diet orders, enteral nutrition, total parenteral nutrition, diabetes management, renal nutrition, malnutrition, and nutrition-focused physical examinations
- Excellent communication, organization, prioritization, and clinical documentation skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively while managing multiple patient-care priorities
- Commitment to patient privacy, safety, regulatory compliance, and continuing education
Registered Dietitian Responsibilities
- Provide clinical inpatient and outpatient medical nutrition therapy to adult and geriatric patients
- Complete comprehensive nutrition assessments, reassessments, consultations, and individualized plans of care
- Interpret clinical and dietary data to determine nutritional requirements, treatment goals, precautions, and education needs
- Develop, implement, and modify nutrition interventions based on patient progress and changing clinical conditions
- Provide diabetes self-management education for patients with diabetes, prediabetes, and diabetes-related conditions
- Educate patients and families about nutrition therapies and treatment plans in a clear, compassionate, and professional manner
- Support patients with complex nutritional needs, including enteral nutrition, parenteral nutrition, renal disease, malnutrition, dysphagia, diabetes, and post-operative care
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to promote safe, effective patient care
- Document nutrition assessments, interventions, education, and follow-up accurately in the electronic health record
- Complete routine and priority assignments within established departmental time frames
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while protecting patient health information
