Medical Assistant Job Requirements

  • At least 1 year of Medical Assistant experience
  • Current Medical Assistant-Certified (MA-C) credential required
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Cardiology or electrophysiology clinic experience preferred; strong primary care experience may be considered
  • Experience with EPIC electronic medical records required
  • Proficiency obtaining vital signs, pulse oximetry, height and weight measurements, and 12-lead EKGs/ECGs
  • Ability to place heart monitors and support post-procedure patient follow-up
  • Strong communication, organization, and patient-service skills
  • Reliable personal transportation required due to potential travel between nearby clinics; public transportation alone may not meet the needs of the role
  • Must reside within approximately 50 miles of the assignment and be open to a permanent position following the contract

Electrophysiology Medical Assistant Responsibilities

  • Room patients and prepare them for examinations and procedures in an electrophysiology cardiology setting
  • Obtain and document vital signs, pulse oximetry, height, and weight
  • Perform and record 12-lead EKGs/ECGs according to clinic standards
  • Apply heart monitors, assist with monitor placement, and provide related patient instructions
  • Prepare charts and support accurate documentation in EPIC
  • Assist with prescription refill requests, pharmacy calls, insurance verification, and authorization forms
  • Provide in-basket support, telephone triage, follow-up calls, and post-procedure calls within scope
  • Schedule appointments and coordinate patient care activities
  • Maintain exam rooms, stock supplies, and help ensure efficient clinic flow
  • Collaborate with cardiology providers and clinic staff to deliver organized, compassionate patient care
  • Float between nearby clinics within the Medical Assistant scope of practice when needed
