Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year experience as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant in a hospital, acute care, or rehabilitation setting (inpatient experience preferred)
• Current state licensure as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (Illinois)
• Associate’s degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team
• Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills (EHR experience preferred)

Key Responsibilities

• Assist Occupational Therapists in evaluating and treating patients with physical, cognitive, and psychosocial impairments in an inpatient/hospital setting
• Implement individualized occupational therapy treatment plans under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist to maximize patient independence and functional outcomes
• Provide acute care and inpatient rehabilitation interventions, including ADL training, therapeutic exercises, adaptive equipment recommendations, and cognitive strategies as directed by the Occupational Therapist
• Collaborate with Occupational Therapists, physicians, nurses, PTs, SLPs, social workers, and case managers to coordinate comprehensive patient care and discharge planning
• Document patient treatments, progress notes, and communicate observations accurately and timely in the EHR
• Educate patients and families on home programs, safety strategies, and techniques to support continued recovery as directed by the Occupational Therapist
