Registered Respiratory Therapist Job Requirements
- Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential
- At least 1 year of professional respiratory therapy experience
- Current authorization to practice respiratory therapy in Oklahoma
- Cardiopulmonary clinical knowledge and strong patient-care skills
- Ability to work 12-hour day shifts in an on-site hospital environment
- Strong communication, patient assessment, and critical-thinking abilities
Respiratory Therapist Responsibilities
- Assess patients through interviews, physical examinations, bedside checks, and evaluation of lung capacity
- Administer aerosolized medications and perform chest physiotherapy
- Maintain patient airways and support effective ventilation
- Set up, monitor, and manage ventilators for patients requiring artificial ventilation or life support
- Respond to respiratory emergencies and participate in rapid response care, including intubation and CPR support
- Conduct and interpret blood gas analyses and pulmonary function testing
- Educate patients and families about chronic lung conditions and the use of home medical equipment
- Document assessments, respiratory treatments, patient responses, and care plans accurately
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary care teams to support patient outcomes
