- Position: Travel Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) – Hospital / Acute Care / ICU
- Location: Alexandria, VA 22304 (Northern Virginia / Washington, D.C. area)
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,620 - $1,740
- Start Date: March 9, 2026
- End Date: June 6, 2026
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks
- Hours per Week: 36 (guaranteed)
- Shift: 12-hour rotating shifts (mostly nights, day option if needed)
- Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend
- Floating: First to float
- On-Call: None
- Holiday Coverage: 1 major, 1 minor
- Setting: General medical/surgical floors and ICU (adult patients)
- Team Support: 4+ RTs scheduled per shift
- Scrub Color: Steel Grey
- EMR: Epic (experience with Epic preferred)
Qualifications & Licensure
- Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required
- Active Virginia Respiratory Care license required at time of submission
- Minimum 1 year of recent acute care/hospital respiratory therapy experience required; 5+ years strongly preferred (critical care/ICU experience highly valued)
- AHA ACLS required
- AHA BLS required
- CRT considered only with 10+ years of experience
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive respiratory assessments, ventilator management, and ongoing monitoring for adult patients in ICU and general floors
- Manage invasive and non-invasive ventilation (ventilator support, BiPAP, HFNC) and participate in ventilator weaning protocols
- Administer aerosolized medications, breathing treatments, oxygen therapy, and pulmonary hygiene interventions
- Obtain and interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and communicate results to the interdisciplinary care team
- Support airway management, assist with intubations, and collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and respiratory care colleagues
- Deliver patient and family education on COPD, pulmonary disease management, and inhaler/nebulizer techniques
- Participate in nitric oxide therapy and other specialty pulmonary treatments as indicated
- Document all respiratory care accurately and promptly in Epic EMR
- Operate and troubleshoot respiratory equipment including Servo I/S/U, V60, HT-70, ResMed devices, Optiflow, Volara, and therapy vests
