Job Requirements / Qualifications

• Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential
• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Respiratory Therapist in a hospital or acute care setting (critical care experience preferred)
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• State respiratory therapist license or eligibility to obtain licensure in Georgia (as required)
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaborate in a multidisciplinary team
• Strong communication, patient education, and documentation skills

Key Responsibilities

• Provide intensive respiratory care and safe patient transport as medically prescribed — hospital respiratory therapist duties
• Evaluate patients, recommend treatment plans, and implement physician-prescribed therapies
• Manage mechanical ventilation and ventilator adjustments (invasive and non-invasive ventilation)
• Administer oxygen therapy, aerosolized medications, and nebulizer treatments
• Perform chest physiotherapy, suctioning, arterial punctures, and airway management (including tracheostomy care)
• Monitor oxygenation and ventilation using pulse oximetry and capnography; review chest x-rays to support treatment decisions
• Conduct pulmonary function testing, 12-lead EKGs, and basic arrhythmia recognition
• Assist with respiratory procedures such as bronchoscopy support and chest tube management
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot ventilatory and respiratory equipment; ensure preventative maintenance
• Document treatments, patient responses, and billing/charging accurately and timely in patient charts
• Communicate effectively with physicians and participate in shift-to-shift handoff rounds
• Perform other duties as assigned to support respiratory therapy services and patient safety
