Respiratory Therapist Job Requirements
- At least 1 year of experience as a Respiratory Therapist or Registered Respiratory Therapist in a hospital setting
- Current Respiratory Therapist license or certification appropriate for practice in Iowa
- Successful license and certification verification
- Ability to work 12-hour night shifts, every other weekend, and one holiday during the assignment
- Completion of required competency, clinical skills, health, and background-screening processes
- Strong communication, clinical judgment, patient assessment, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
Respiratory Therapist Responsibilities
- Provide respiratory care to hospital patients in accordance with established clinical standards and protocols
- Assess, monitor, and document patients’ respiratory status and response to treatment
- Deliver prescribed respiratory therapies and support patients with a variety of pulmonary and acute-care needs
- Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and the broader interdisciplinary care team to promote safe, effective patient outcomes
- Respond appropriately to changes in patient condition and respiratory emergencies
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and follow pulmonary services department procedures
- Support a professional, patient-centered care environment throughout the travel assignment
