Travel Sterile Processing Technician Job Details
- Location: Mason City, Iowa
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,130–$1,210
- Assignment Type: 13-week travel contract
- Start Date: October 26, 2026
- End Date: January 24, 2027
- Schedule: 40 hours per week; 8-hour day shifts
- Shift: 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.
- Call Requirements: Every third weekend call rotation, with holidays included in the holiday call rotation
- Healthcare Setting: Hospital sterile processing department
Sterile Processing Technician Job Requirements
- At least 1 year of experience in sterile processing, central sterile services, or a related hospital setting
- Current Central Sterile Technician certification
- Current experience as a Sterile Processing Technician in a hospital setting preferred
- Knowledge of infection prevention practices, sterilization methods, medical instrument processing, and sterile processing standards
- Ability to participate in weekend, holiday, and on-call rotations
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and commitment to patient safety
Sterile Processing Technician Responsibilities
- Decontaminate, inspect, assemble, package, sterilize, and distribute surgical instruments and medical equipment
- Operate sterilization and disinfection equipment according to established procedures
- Verify instrument functionality and tray completeness before distribution to operating rooms and procedural areas
- Maintain accurate instrument processing, sterilization, and quality assurance documentation
- Support operating room and procedural teams by preparing instruments and supplies in a timely manner
- Follow hospital policies, infection prevention standards, and safety procedures
- Respond to assigned weekend, holiday, and call coverage needs
