Job Details

• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (May 11, 2026 – August 9, 2026)
• Job Title: Travel Surgical Technologist / Surgical Tech – Cardiac / CVOR
• Setting: Hospital – Surgery Procedures (Cardiac Unit, Cardiovascular Operating Room)
• Shift: 8-hour day shifts, Monday–Friday (6:30 AM – 3:00 PM) with call; 5 shifts per week
• Hours: 40 hours per week
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,100 – $2,260
• Employment Type: Travel Contract (Travel Surgical Tech, Contract CVOR Tech)
• Location: Springfield, IL 62769 (Springfield, Illinois – Central Illinois travel surgical tech job)

Job Requirements / Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of recent CVOR (Cardiovascular Operating Room) experience – cardiac OR experience preferred
• National certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST/TS-C or equivalent)
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• Ability to participate in on-call rotation as required
• Must not reside within 50 miles of the facility (travel assignment requirement)
• Time-off requests must be submitted at time of application
• Familiarity with sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, and OR workflow for cardiac procedures

Key Responsibilities (Surgical Tech – Cardiac/CVOR)

• Assist cardiac surgeons and the perioperative team during cardiac surgeries and procedures in the operating room (OR)
• Prepare and maintain a sterile field before and during surgery; ensure adherence to sterile technique and infection control policies
• Set up, inspect, and ensure surgical instruments and equipment are properly sterilized, functional, and available for cases
• Anticipate the needs of the surgical team; pass instruments and supplies efficiently during cardiac and CVOR cases
• Support advanced cardiac procedures and complex cardiovascular cases while following hospital policies and AORN/OR best practices
• Participate in on-call rotation and respond promptly when assigned
