Travel Nursing Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,980–$2,080
• Specialty: Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit (Neuro ICU)
• Healthcare Setting: Short-term acute care hospital and Level I Trauma Center
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Assignment Dates: October 30, 2026–January 29, 2027
• Schedule: Three 12-hour night shifts per week, 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.

• Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:2 on days, nights, and weekends

Neuro ICU Travel Nurse Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license; candidates with a pending Connecticut RN license may be considered, but the licensure application should be initiated before submission
• At least 2 years of recent Neuro ICU or comparable critical-care nursing experience
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Current NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Demonstrated experience caring for patients with subarachnoid hemorrhage, subdural hematoma, neurotrauma, stroke, craniotomy, and craniectomy
• Ability to manage ventilated patients, arterial and central lines, external ventricular drains (EVDs), lumbar drains, CVVH/CRRT, vasoactive infusions, sedation, and neuromuscular blockade
• Strong assessment, prioritization, communication, and critical-thinking skills
• One professional reference is required

Neuroscience ICU Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill adult and geriatric neuroscience patients
• Monitor and manage patients with acute neurological, respiratory, cardiovascular, and multisystem conditions
• Perform frequent neurological assessments and recognize changes requiring immediate intervention
• Care for patients with external ventricular drains, lumbar drains, intracranial pressure (ICP) monitoring, arterial lines, central lines, ventilators, and CVVH equipment
• Manage titratable cardiac and vasoactive drips, continuous sedation, IV paralytics, insulin protocols, and other critical-care therapies
• Support care for patients following craniotomy, craniectomy, intubation, and other complex neurological procedures
• Interpret cardiac rhythms, arterial blood gases, intake and output, and other clinical data to guide timely care
• Collaborate with respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, rehabilitation, social services, rapid response teams, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
• Maintain accurate documentation in Epic while adhering to critical-care, infection-prevention, and patient-safety standards
• Float within the ICU and PCU scope of practice as needed to support patient-care operations
