- Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday
- Floating: May float to stepdown or general med with adjusted patient assignments
Job Requirements
- Active RN license with eligibility to work in Illinois
- At least 1 year of ICU nursing experience required
- Level I trauma experience preferred
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Ability to titrate vasoactive drips and manage critical care medications
- Comfortable interpreting telemetry strips independently
- Experience caring for post-surgical, multi-system trauma, open abdomen, and endovascular patients
- Strong assessment, prioritization, and rapid-response skills in a high-acuity acute care environment
- Willingness to complete unit orientation and adapt to floating assignments when needed
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality bedside care for critically ill Surgical ICU patients
- Monitor and manage patients requiring pressors, sedation, paralytics, and insulin infusions
- Assess, plan, and implement individualized nursing care for complex postoperative and trauma cases
- Collaborate with intensivists, respiratory therapy, charge nurses, and the care team to support optimal patient outcomes
- Perform ongoing patient assessments, interpret telemetry, and respond quickly to changes in condition
- Support safe transitions of care when floating to stepdown or general med environments
- Document accurately in EPIC and maintain clear communication with the clinical team
- Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care in a fast-paced critical care nursing setting
