Job Requirements
- Active New York RN license required
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience required
- Stepdown/PCU experience required
- Telemetry experience required
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association required
- NIHSS certification required
- ACLS certification from the American Heart Association preferred
- High-acuity stroke, neuro ICU, and neurosurgery experience required
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality critical care nursing for a mixed-acuity neurosurgical patient population
- Monitor and assess patients requiring close neurological and hemodynamic observation
- Perform frequent neuro checks and manage complex patient conditions in a high-acuity setting
- Support care for patients with EVDs, lumbar drains, subdural drains, arterial lines, and other advanced monitoring needs
- Assist in the care of patients recovering from brain tumor procedures, spinal malformations, aneurysm coiling/clipping, DBS insertion, VP shunts, and seizure-related conditions
- Collaborate with physicians, neurologists, surgeons, and the multidisciplinary care team to promote safe, effective outcomes
- Respond to changing patient needs in a fast-paced specialty care environment
