Job Requirements (ICU RN / Critical Care)

  • Minimum 1 year of recent critical care experience required (ICU, step-down, or ED critical care preferred)
  • Active RN license (Pennsylvania)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Competency with ventilators, vasoactive drips, and high-acuity patient management preferred

Responsibilities (Emergency Department Boarder Care / Critical Care Nursing)

  • Deliver inpatient-level nursing care to admitted patients boarding in the ED, ensuring continuity of care and patient safety
  • Manage up to 2 high-acuity patients per shift, including patients on ventilators or receiving vasoactive infusions
  • Monitor and manage ventilator settings, titrate drips per protocol, and perform critical care assessments
  • Collaborate closely with ED physicians, hospitalists, ICU teams, and inpatient services to facilitate timely transfers and optimize throughput
  • Maintain clear documentation, clinical communication, and adherence to quality and safety standards in a fast-paced ED environment
  • Demonstrate flexibility and independent clinical decision-making; may assist other units within competency when departmental needs change
