Qualifications / Job Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • Current RN license in North Carolina or compact state RN license (required)
  • Minimum 1 year clinical experience in Labor & Delivery or OB/GYN nursing
  • Travel nursing experience required for this travel nurse role
  • Current certifications (must be in hand prior to start):
    • BLS (American Heart Association)
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
    • ACLS (within last 6 months)
    • CPI (must be in hand prior to start)
  • Meditech charting experience preferred (training available if needed)
  • COVID-19 vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
  • Ability and willingness to float to other units as needed

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide direct obstetrical nursing care including assessment, medication administration, documentation, and patient education
  • Coordinate and carry out provider orders; evaluate and document patient responses
  • Provide antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and triage care in a busy L&D unit
  • Assist with and perform high-risk deliveries, vaginal deliveries, and C-sections as needed
  • Use external and internal fetal monitoring; recognize and respond to abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
  • Administer blood products, IV therapy, infusion pumps, and medications (including magnesium sulfate, Pitocin, insulin drips, and antiseizure medications)
  • Perform sterile vaginal exams, reflex and edema assessments, and clonus evaluations
  • Assist with neonatal resuscitation, thermoregulation, and initial newborn care
  • Manage epidural anesthesia monitoring, pain control, and postpartum hemorrhage interventions
  • Communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary care team to ensure safe, evidence-based perinatal care
