Job Requirements & Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years acute care RN experience, including at least 1 year in Labor & Delivery / OB nursing
- Current, active Indiana RN license (compact license holders: verify state eligibility)
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, STABLE, C-EFM (electronic fetal monitoring)
- Nursing Diploma or Associate’s Degree (ASN/ADN) required
- Strong clinical assessment, triage, decision-making, and patient care planning skills for maternity and perinatal populations
- Experience mentoring staff, serving as a preceptor, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams
Responsibilities – Labor & Delivery RN / OB Nurse
- Provide safe, effective, and compassionate labor and delivery nursing care to patients and families (maternity, perinatal, and postpartum)
- Perform thorough assessments and timely reassessments; make independent clinical decisions in high-acuity L&D situations
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care in collaboration with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team
- Monitor fetal status and use C-EFM appropriately; respond to changes in maternal or fetal condition
- Provide comprehensive patient and family education throughout labor, delivery, and discharge (newborn care, postpartum instructions)
- Delegate tasks appropriately to licensed and unlicensed staff; function as a mentor and preceptor for new or traveling nurses
- Participate in quality, safety, and service improvement initiatives focused on maternal-child outcomes
- Maintain regulatory compliance and promote a safe, clean, culturally sensitive environment
