Travel Registered Nurse – Labor & Delivery Job in Topeka, Kansas
Travel RN opportunity in Topeka, KS for an experienced Labor & Delivery nurse. - Shift: 12-hour nights
- Weekly Hours: 36 hours per week
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,920 - $2,020
- Schedule Notes: Option of 36 or 48 hours per week; weekend coverage includes 6 weekend shifts in 6 weeks or every third weekend
- Float Requirement: May float to postpartum
- Unit Focus: High-risk labor & delivery, OB triage, postpartum, and special care nursery support
Job Requirements
- Active Kansas RN license or Compact RN license required at the time of submission
- At least 1 year of Labor & Delivery nursing experience required; 2 years preferred
- Experience caring for high-risk obstetric patients strongly preferred
- BLS, AWHONN, and NRP required prior to submission
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Epic EHR experience preferred
- Ability to work night shifts and participate in required weekend coverage
- Strong clinical skills in obstetrical assessment, fetal monitoring, and maternal-newborn care
Responsibilities
- Provide safe, compassionate care to laboring patients, postpartum patients, and newborns
- Support high-risk pregnancies including pre-eclampsia, diabetes, and other complex maternal conditions
- Assist with vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, external cephalic versions, and OB triage evaluations
- Monitor fetal and maternal status using appropriate obstetrical assessment techniques
- Perform and document patient assessments, interventions, and education throughout the care continuum
- Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and the interdisciplinary care team to respond quickly to changes in maternal or fetal condition
- Provide support for postpartum, couplet care, and special care nursery needs as assigned
- Maintain accurate charting and uphold unit standards for quality, safety, and excellent patient care
