Job Details

• Unit: Labor & Delivery (L&D), couplet care, obstetrics
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday
• Orientation: 16 hours
• Charting / EMR Systems: Centricity, Sorian, EDM, Lawson, Kronos
• Parking & Transit: On-site and street parking; accessible by Metro and bus (Washington, DC public transit)
• Scrubs: Provided

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery RN experience (L&D nurse, obstetrics nurse)
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (valid at time of submission) — pending licenses not accepted
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate required
• Two supervisor references required
• COVID-19 and Flu vaccines required (medical/religious exemption for Flu only)
• Willingness to float within scope to meet facility needs; return staff must have a 1-year gap before reapplying
• First-time travelers accepted (travel nurse friendly)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn care in a high-acuity Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital
• Triage obstetrical patients, manage couplet care, and perform fetal monitoring and assessments
• Assist with deliveries, Cesarean sections, and emergency OB interventions as needed
• Collaborate with OB/GYN physicians, midwives, neonatology, anesthesia, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in multiple EMR/charting systems (Centricity, Sorian, EDM)
• Adhere to hospital protocols, patient safety guidelines, and evidence-based obstetric nursing practices
• Participate in orientation and ongoing professional development; support peers and unit goals
