- Call: Approximately 10–11 call shifts per month, including weekends; weekday call is generally 3:30 p.m.–7:00 a.m., with weekend call coverage from 7:00 a.m.–7:00 a.m.
- Orientation: Two shifts with a preceptor followed by a buddy call
- Charting System: EPIC
Cath Lab Technologist Job Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of recent Cath Lab Technologist experience
- Certified Radiologic Technologist credential with ARRT(R) verification
- Valid West Virginia license or authorization to practice as required for the role
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association
- Experience working with X-ray equipment in a cardiac catheterization laboratory
- Adult cardiac Cath Lab experience, including peripheral procedures, coronary catheterization, percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), pacemakers, and implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs)
- Experience with intra-aortic balloon pumps and intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) preferred
- Familiarity with the Acist injector preferred; training may be provided
- Ability to participate in scheduled call coverage and respond according to department expectations
Cath Lab Technologist Responsibilities
- Scrub and monitor adult cardiac catheterization and interventional cardiology procedures
- Support a three-person Cath Lab team consisting of registered nurses and a technologist
- Assist with peripheral procedures, coronary catheterization, PCI, pacemaker placement, ICD procedures, and related cardiac interventions
- Operate and support Cath Lab equipment, including X-ray systems, hemodynamic monitoring technology, IVUS, and injectors
- Provide safe, efficient patient care throughout pre-procedure, intra-procedure, and post-procedure workflows
- Respond to scheduled weekday, weekend, and holiday call assignments
- Collaborate with cardiologists, nurses, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and other members of the cardiovascular care team
- Float to non-invasive cardiovascular services when needed, including assistance with IV starts
- Maintain accurate documentation in EPIC and follow department safety and infection-control standards
