- Float Requirement: Yes, including coverage for the Observation Unit / ER Hold patients as needed
Job Requirements
- At least 1 year of laboratory experience required; 2 years preferred
- California CLS license must be in hand at time of submission
- ASCP-MLS certification required
- Experience with Epic required
- Community hospital experience required
- Recent blood bank experience required
- Ability to work a night schedule and adapt to a fast-paced laboratory environment
- Strong generalist lab skills across hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, chemistry, serology, and limited microbiology
- Ability to float between units or nearby sister sites as needed
Responsibilities
- Perform routine and specialized laboratory testing accurately and efficiently
- Process specimens through accessioning, receipt, labeling, and transport
- Conduct testing in hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, chemistry, serology, and limited microbiology
- Support blood bank operations, including transfusion-related procedures and compatibility testing
- Operate laboratory analyzers and equipment while following quality control and quality assurance standards
- Review and report results in a timely manner to support patient care decisions
- Maintain compliance with safety, infection control, and specimen handling procedures
- Collaborate with the care team in a high-volume, multidisciplinary hospital setting
- Assist with float coverage and other department needs as assigned
