Med-Surg Registered Nurse (RN) Travel Job in Americus, GA – 13-Week Night Contract
Join a 36-bed acute care hospital as a Med-Surg Travel Registered Nurse in Americus, Georgia, and provide high-quality care during a 13-week medical-surgical nursing assignment. This opportunity offers 12-hour night shifts, 24/7 hospitalist coverage, nurse aide and respiratory therapy support, and a collaborative hospital team. Americus is a welcoming Southwest Georgia community known for its historic character, relaxed pace, outdoor recreation, and local attractions.
Travel Nursing Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,800–$1,890
- Location: Americus, Georgia
- Assignment Type: 13-week travel nursing contract
- Start Date: October 3, 2026
- End Date: January 2, 2027
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Shift Duration: 12-hour nights
- Shift Schedule: 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: Holidays required
- Patient Population: CHF, COPD, ESRD, pneumonia, renal failure, sickle cell crisis, orthopedic and bariatric surgery, altered mental status, and sepsis
- Typical Ratios: RN/LPN 6:1 and CNA 12:1
- Charting System: Meditech
- Orientation: Three floor-specific shifts
- Dress Code: White tops and hunter green pants
Med-Surg Travel Nurse Requirements
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for submission
- At least 1 year of recent hospital medical-surgical nursing experience
- Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association
- Current NIHSS certification
- ACLS certification preferred
- Ability to work 12-hour night shifts, every other weekend, and required holidays
- Ability to meet the assignment’s 75-mile residency requirement based on the address listed on the driver’s license
- Flexibility to float occasionally as needed
Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to acute medical-surgical patients throughout hospitalization
- Assess patients, develop and implement individualized care plans, and evaluate clinical progress
- Care for patients with complex medical conditions, including cardiac, pulmonary, renal, infectious, neurological, and postoperative diagnoses
- Administer medications and treatments safely while monitoring for effectiveness and adverse reactions
- Recognize changes in patient condition and promptly communicate concerns to the appropriate provider
- Collaborate with hospitalists, nursing assistants, respiratory therapy, the PICC team, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
- Complete accurate documentation in the Meditech electronic medical record
- Provide patient and family education related to treatment plans, medications, safety, and discharge needs
- Support safe transitions of care and maintain compliance with hospital policies and clinical standards
