Travel Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) – 13-Week Night Shift Contract in Fort Wayne, IN
Join an experienced acute-care team as a Travel Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse in Fort Wayne, Indiana. This 13-week travel nursing contract offers $2,360–$2,480 in estimated weekly pay, 36 guaranteed hours, and 12-hour night shifts. In this float role, you will care for a diverse adult patient population across acute-care medical-surgical units while supporting high-quality, compassionate care in a collaborative hospital environment. Travel Nursing Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,360–$2,480
- Employment Type: 13-week travel Registered Nurse contract
- Location: Fort Wayne, Indiana
- Start Date: November 2, 2026
- Assignment End Date: February 1, 2027
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Shift: 12-hour nights, 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.
- Schedule: Three weekend shifts every four weeks
- Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:5–6
- Healthcare Setting: On-site acute-care medical-surgical units
- Floating: Medical-surgical nurses float to other medical units based on patient-care needs
- Orientation: Hospital orientation, nursing orientation, and Epic training
- Dress Code: Caribbean blue scrubs
Travel Medical-Surgical RN Requirements
- At least 1.5 years of recent Registered Nurse experience in a Level I, Level II, or tertiary-care setting
- At least 1 year of Medical-Surgical nursing experience in a large hospital with approximately 450 or more beds
- Current Registered Nurse license in Indiana or a compact RN license
- Current Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association
- Strong clinical judgment, communication, organization, and prioritization skills
- Ability to work night shifts, meet weekend scheduling expectations, and float to other medical units
- Epic electronic health record experience is preferred
Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive Medical-Surgical nursing care for patients with complex and varied diagnoses
- Perform focused and comprehensive assessments, develop care plans, administer medications, and evaluate patient responses
- Care for patients with conditions such as COPD, diabetes, CHF, end-stage renal disease, pancreatitis, gastrointestinal bleeding, pneumonia, sepsis, stroke, dementia, and substance-use disorders
- Manage patients before and after procedures including colonoscopy, bronchoscopy, thoracentesis, paracentesis, minor surgery, biopsy, and amputation
- Provide IV therapy and manage IV pumps, heparin and insulin infusions, feeding tubes and pumps, chest tubes, wound vacuums, telemetry, and blood glucose monitoring
- Use Epic, Pyxis, Accu-Chek, Hospira IV pumps, sequential compression devices, and other unit equipment safely and effectively
- Communicate with providers and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care and support safe transitions
- Float to designated medical units and adapt quickly to changing patient-care needs
