Med/Surg Registered Nurse (RN) – Travel Nurse Assignment | Trumansburg (Ithaca), NY

Med-Surg RN Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State
  • Minimum 1 year of Med-Surg nursing experience; behavioral health or addiction recovery experience a plus
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited school required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
  • BLS certification required (AHA preferred)
  • CPI certification or willingness to complete within 3 months of hire
  • Successful completion of medication competency exam (medication administration experience required)

Responsibilities (Med-Surg / Behavioral Health)

  • Maintain 24-hour accountability for quality of care for clients as a Med-Surg Registered Nurse
  • Conduct physical and mental health assessments, including vital signs, risk assessments, and withdrawal assessments
  • Administer and monitor treatment regimens and prescribed medications; ensure medication safety and control of drugs
  • Observe, document, and report behavioral changes and clinical findings to the interdisciplinary healthcare team
  • Triage emergent medical issues and coordinate appropriate care with providers and emergency services
  • Document all care accurately and in a timely manner following regulatory standards
  • Provide clinical supervision and direction to licensed practical nurses (LPNs) and other clinical staff
  • Respect cultural and religious practices of patients and promote a patient-centered, recovery-focused environment
  • Participate in quality assessment and improvement activities to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Perform other position-related duties as assigned
