Job Requirements / Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of bedside clinical experience in a Med/Surg / medical-surgical setting
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (state-specific license or compact RN as applicable)
  • BLS Certification (required prior to first shift)
  • ACLS Certification (required prior to first shift)
  • Strong clinical assessment, documentation, and patient education skills — ideal for Med/Surg nurses

Responsibilities (Medical-Surgical RN)

  • Perform comprehensive nursing assessments within 8 hours of patient admission
  • Develop individualized care plans and identify patient teaching needs and goals
  • Provide direct patient care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
  • Accurately document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses in a timely manner
  • Participate in patient rehabilitation programs and interdisciplinary team conferences to support continuity of care
  • Initiate discharge planning and provide patient teaching starting at admission
  • Communicate clinical changes and patient status to care team members for safety and continuity
  • Supervise and provide direction to ancillary nursing personnel and support staff
  • Promote patient and staff safety by adhering to hospital policies, procedures, and infection control standards
  • Contribute positively to team building and a supportive nursing work environment
  • Assume charge nurse responsibilities as requested
  • Engage in professional development and continuing education to maintain clinical skills
