Travel RN Job Details

• Location: Chesapeake, Virginia
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,910–$2,010
• Start Date: October 19, 2026
• Assignment Length: 13-week travel nursing contract
• Unit: 6W post-surgical Med/Surg Tele
• Shift Duration: 12-hour night shifts, approximately 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.
• Schedule: 3x12 or 4x12 schedule options; preferred schedule must be identified during submission
• Patient Population: Adult and geriatric patients
• Typical Patient Ratio: 1:7
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Holidays occurring during the assignment, including two of the three winter holidays
• Electronic Health Record: Epic

Med/Surg Tele RN Job Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of recent, relevant Med/Surg Tele, telemetry, or post-surgical nursing experience
• Active Virginia or Compact Registered Nurse license in hand at the time of submission
• Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association
• Current ACLS certification
• Demonstrated proficiency with Epic electronic documentation
• Telemetry nursing competency, including cardiac rhythm interpretation and interval measurement
• Ability to successfully complete the required telemetry assessment with a score of at least 80%
• Experience caring for patient assignments of up to 1:7 preferred
• Previous travel nursing experience preferred
• Willingness to complete required pre-start education and compliance requirements

Med/Surg Tele Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric patients recovering from high-volume urologic and gynecologic surgical procedures
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms through unit-based and remote telemetry systems
• Recognize and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition, including dysrhythmias and clinical deterioration
• Manage IV therapy, PICC lines, central lines, peripheral lines, blood products, and medication protocols
• Provide care for patients with renal failure, surgical drains, feeding tubes, tracheostomies, and wound care needs
• Manage continuous bladder irrigation and other post-surgical treatments
• Apply isolation precautions and safe oxygen administration practices
• Collaborate with physicians, rapid response teams, pharmacy, respiratory services, rehabilitation, radiology, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
• Document assessments, interventions, patient responses, and care plans accurately in Epic
• Participate in shared scheduling, weekend coverage, holiday coverage, and unit-based patient care activities
