Med/Surg Tele RN Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse license eligible for practice in Connecticut
- At least 2 years of recent medical-surgical nursing experience
- Prior travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers are not being considered
- Recent Epic electronic health record experience required
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- ACLS and NIHSS certifications required
- Ability to work overnight shifts, every other weekend, and scheduled holidays
- Ability to commit to the full travel nursing assignment and meet orientation requirements
Medical-Surgical Telemetry Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to adult patients with a broad range of general medical conditions
- Complete comprehensive patient assessments, develop individualized care plans, and evaluate patient progress
- Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and established clinical standards
- Monitor telemetry and overall patient status, recognize changes in condition, and communicate concerns promptly to the appropriate care team members
- Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in Epic
- Collaborate with hospitalists, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, nursing assistants, and other interdisciplinary partners
- Provide patient and family education to support treatment plans, recovery, and safe transitions of care
- Promote infection prevention, patient safety, and evidence-based medical-surgical nursing practices
