Med/Surg Tele Registered Nurse Requirements

• Registered Nurse license eligible for practice in Washington
• At least 1 year of professional nursing experience; 2 years of Medical-Surgical Telemetry experience is preferred
• Previous Critical Access Hospital experience required
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Demonstrated ability to interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias
• Strong telemetry assessment and cardiac monitoring skills
• Proficiency starting and maintaining peripheral IVs
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a community hospital setting
• COVID-19 vaccination required; medical and religious exemptions may be considered

Medical-Surgical Telemetry RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric patients on a medical-surgical telemetry unit
• Continuously monitor telemetry patients and recognize changes in cardiac rhythms or clinical status
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias, escalating concerns promptly to the appropriate provider
• Complete nursing assessments, administer medications, initiate treatments, and evaluate patient responses
• Start and maintain IV access and perform related nursing interventions
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory services, physical therapy, pharmacy, radiology, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
• Maintain accurate and timely electronic documentation; experience with Cerner is preferred
• Support safe transitions of care through patient education, care coordination, and discharge planning
• Float within the Registered Nurse’s scope of practice as needed to support unit operations
