• Position: Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse / Tele RN (Travel)
• Location: Chesapeake, VA 23320 (Coastal Virginia; near Virginia Beach & Norfolk)
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1800 - $1890
• Contract Length: 13 weeks (possible extension)
• Shift: Day shift, 12 hours (07:00 - 19:30); schedule may be either 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts per week. Please indicate your preference when applying.
• Hours per Week: 36-48 (overtime after 48 hours)

• Patient Ratio: 1:7

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years recent Med/Surg Tele RN experience; travel nursing experience required
• Acute care experience with neurology/stroke patients (stroke nurse experience preferred)
• Current Virginia RN license or Compact RN license in hand (no exceptions)
• BLS and ACLS (American Heart Association)
• NIHSS certification required
• EPIC charting proficiency required
• Must pass EKG testing (80% or higher; no remediation)
• No prior license or background hits accepted
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions allowed)
• Comfortable with a 1:7 patient ratio on a busy Med/Surg Telemetry unit

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients on a Med/Surg Telemetry unit
• Continuously monitor and interpret telemetry and cardiac rhythms; respond to telemetry changes
• Manage IV therapy, administer medications and blood products, and care for central/PICC lines
• Care for neurology and stroke patients, including pre/post neurosurgery management and stroke protocols
• Perform phlebotomy, wound care, tracheostomy care, and feeding tube management
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams: IV team, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, and rapid response
• Float to other units as needed and work weekends/holidays per contract
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation using EPIC
