Travel Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) – Chesapeake, VA – 13-week Contract (Day Shift)

Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,800 - $1,890
• Location: Chesapeake, VA 23320 (Coastal Virginia; near Virginia Beach & Norfolk)
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks (possible extension)
• Start Date: May 11, 2026
• Shift: Day Shift, 3x12-hour or 4x12-hour (07:00 - 19:30); weekdays, every other weekend, float, holidays as scheduled
• Hours per Week: 36-48
• Unit: 6South Med/Surg Tele/Neuro/Stroke
• Patient Ratio: 1:7

Required Qualifications (Med/Surg Tele RN / Travel Nurse)

• Minimum 2 years recent Med/Surg Tele RN experience in an acute care setting
• Travel nursing experience required (travel nurse / travel RN)
• Experience caring for neurology and stroke patients (neuro/stroke RN preferred)
• Valid Virginia RN license OR multistate compact RN license in hand (no exceptions)
• BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association)
• NIHSS certification required
• EPIC charting proficiency required
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions allowed)
• No prior license or background hits accepted
• Must pass EKG testing (80% or higher, no remediation)
• Candidate must live more than 50 miles from the facility (travel nursing eligibility)

Key Responsibilities (Telemetry RN / Med/Surg)

• Provide high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients on a busy Med/Surg Tele/Neuro/Stroke unit
• Interpret telemetry strips and manage cardiac dysrhythmias as a Telemetry RN
• Start and maintain IVs, administer blood products, and manage central/PICC lines
• Care for patients with neurology/stroke diagnoses, including pre/post neurosurgery and traumatic brain injury
• Perform wound care, tracheostomy management, and enteral feeding tube care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including IV team, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, and rapid response
• Float to other units as needed and cover holidays/weekends per schedule
