  • Additional Scheduling Notes: Weekend and holiday participation is required. Flexibility for floating to other hospital units may be expected.

Neuro Registered Nurse Job Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in West Virginia
  • At least 1 year of recent registered nursing experience, including strong neuro or medical-surgical nursing experience
  • Recent EPIC experience required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
  • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification must be completed and available at submission
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred
  • Clinical proficiency with neurological assessments, stroke care, seizure management, postoperative spine care, and G-tube care
  • Ability to work independently, collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team, and adapt to changing patient-care needs

Travel RN Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with neurological and medical-surgical diagnoses
  • Perform frequent neurological assessments and accurately document NIHSS findings and changes in patient status
  • Care for patients with strokes, seizures, deep brain stimulators, surgical and postoperative spine conditions, and other neurological disorders
  • Administer medications and monitor patients receiving physician-directed infusions and other therapies
  • Provide safe and effective G-tube care and support nutritional needs according to the plan of care
  • Recognize changes in condition, escalate concerns promptly, and coordinate interventions with providers and the care team
  • Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in EPIC
  • Collaborate with nursing assistants, respiratory therapy, providers, and monitor technicians to promote safe, efficient patient care
  • Participate in weekend, holiday, and potential floating assignments as required by the schedule and patient-care needs
