- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: 12-hour nights
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,130 - $2,250
- Schedule: Every other weekend and every other holiday
- Charting System: EPIC
- Orientation: 12 hours, including unit and computer training plus precepted patient care
Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
- At least 1 year of nursing experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Previous experience on a dedicated neuro unit required
- Level 1 trauma experience required
- BLS (AHA) certification required
- NIHSS certification required
- Experience titrating drips, including heparin infusion based on PTT
- Comfortable working in a unit with floating responsibilities and a rotating schedule
- Candidate must be able to complete a drug screen and meet submission documentation requirements
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to patients with stroke, spine surgery, seizure, brain tumor, head injury, and other neuroscience-related conditions
- Monitor and titrate drips as ordered, including heparin infusion
- Manage patients in a busy neuro med-surg acute care environment while maintaining safe nurse-to-patient ratios
- Collaborate closely with charge nurses, house supervisors, and interdisciplinary healthcare team members
- Float as needed within scope and competency to support patient care across the unit
- Document care accurately in EPIC and follow established unit workflows
- Support patient safety, communication, and continuity of care throughout the shift
