- Assignment Duration: 13 weeks, ending February 1, 2027
- Schedule: 36 hours per week; 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
- Unit: 31-bed neonatal unit with typical 1:1 or 1:2 patient ratios
- Charting and Medication Systems: EPIC and Pyxis
- Dress Code: Caribbean blue scrubs
- Orientation: Mandatory eight-hour orientation days scheduled Monday through Friday during week one and Monday through Tuesday during week two
NICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- At least 2 years of Level III NICU nursing experience
- Current Indiana Registered Nurse license, or willingness to obtain one before the assignment begins
- Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association
- Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Strong neonatal assessment, critical-thinking, and clinical decision-making skills
- Ability to work 12-hour night shifts and complete all required orientation days
- Flexibility to float to age-appropriate pediatric or pediatric intensive care assignments as needed
NICU Travel Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide safe, compassionate, and evidence-based nursing care to newborns requiring specialized monitoring and treatment
- Assess neonatal patients, identify changes in condition, and promptly communicate concerns to the care team
- Administer medications and treatments safely while following neonatal protocols and established standards of care
- Monitor vital signs, respiratory status, nutrition, fluid balance, and developmental needs
- Collaborate with providers, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members to support individualized care plans
- Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in EPIC
- Support families through education, communication, and compassionate bedside care
- Float to appropriate pediatric or pediatric intensive care areas when required based on patient age and unit needs
