NICU Registered Nurse (RN) Travel Job in Fort Wayne, Indiana – 13-Week Contract

NICU Registered Nurse (RN) travel nursing opportunity in Fort Wayne, Indiana, caring for critically ill and premature newborns in a collaborative Level II NICU. Travel Nursing Job Details

  • Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,130–$2,250
  • Assignment Type: 13-week NICU travel nursing contract
  • Location: Fort Wayne, Indiana
  • Start Date: November 2, 2026
  • End Date: February 1, 2027
  • Schedule: 36 hours per week
  • Shift: 12-hour shifts, primarily 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.; day or night scheduling may be available based on unit needs
  • Unit: Level II NICU caring for neonates in a 31-bed setting
  • Patient Ratios: Typically 1:1 or 1:2
  • Charting and Medication Systems: EPIC and Pyxis
  • Orientation: Eight-hour orientation days held Monday through Friday during week one and Monday through Tuesday during week two; attendance is required for all seven orientation days

NICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

  • At least 2 years of recent Level III NICU nursing experience
  • Current Indiana Registered Nurse (RN) license, or eligibility to obtain one
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association
  • Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
  • Strong neonatal assessment, critical-thinking, and family-support skills
  • Ability to float to age-appropriate Pediatric or PICU assignments when needed
  • Caribbean blue scrubs required

NICU RN Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to premature, critically ill, and medically complex newborns in a Level II NICU
  • Perform ongoing neonatal assessments, recognize changes in condition, and promptly escalate concerns
  • Administer medications and treatments safely while following neonatal protocols and evidence-based nursing practices
  • Monitor vital signs, respiratory status, nutrition, fluid balance, and developmental needs
  • Collaborate with providers, respiratory therapists, and the interdisciplinary care team to coordinate individualized treatment plans
  • Educate and support parents and caregivers throughout the infant’s hospitalization
  • Accurately document patient care and clinical outcomes in EPIC
  • Float to appropriate Pediatric or PICU patients when required by staffing needs
