NICU Registered Nurse Travel Assignment in Lubbock, TX | Level IV NICU

Join a high-acuity NICU Registered Nurse travel team in Lubbock, Texas, where advanced neonatal nursing, collaboration, and meaningful patient impact come together every shift. This 26-week travel nursing job offers the opportunity to care for critically ill and premature newborns in a busy Level IV NICU within a respected children’s hospital. Healthcare Job Details

  • Setting: Level IV NICU in a children’s hospital
  • Location: Lubbock, TX 79410
  • Assignment Length: 26 weeks
  • Shift: 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM
  • Hours: 36 hours per week
  • Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,940 - $2,040
  • Schedule Style: Self-scheduling with block scheduling
  • Weekend Commitment: 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week scheduling period
  • Floating: May float to PRN Pediatrics, PICU, or Pediatric ED as needed
  • Orientation: 12 hours

NICU RN Job Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse license in hand; compact license required at submission if applicable
  • At least 2 years of NICU nursing experience required
  • Level III or higher NICU experience strongly preferred due to the acuity of the unit
  • BLS and NRP Advanced certifications required
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Experience caring for neonates and managing a wide range of NICU conditions
  • Ability to work 3 of the 5 major holidays as scheduled
  • Strong adaptability, communication, and teamwork skills for a fast-paced pediatric and neonatal environment

NICU Registered Nurse Responsibilities

  • Provide skilled bedside care for neonates with complex needs, including prematurity, respiratory distress, hypoglycemia, sepsis, and HIE
  • Monitor, assess, and intervene for critically ill newborns using advanced NICU protocols and equipment
  • Administer medications, blood products, and neonatal therapies safely and accurately
  • Manage ventilators, CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, nitric oxide, central lines, UAC/UVCs, chest tubes, and other specialized therapies as needed
  • Support developmental care, thermoregulation, feeding, breastfeeding support, and family education
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to deliver exceptional patient-centered care
  • Maintain accurate documentation in Epic and uphold unit standards for quality and safety
