• Position: Travel Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) – Neurosurgery / Neurosurgery RN
• Location: Chicago, IL 60637 (Hyde Park) – On-site (Chicago travel nurse opportunity)
• Assignment Type: Travel Contract (13-week travel nurse assignment)
• Start Date: April 6, 2026
• End Date: July 6, 2026
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,200–$2,320/week
• Shift: Day shift, 4x10-hour days (07:00 – 17:30)
• Hours per Week: 40
• On-Call: One 8-hour on-call shift per week as needed
• Weekend Rotation: May rotate to weekends as required
• Openings: 1

Job Requirements (Chicago OR RN / Travel Nurse Requirements)

• Active Illinois RN license required (must be in hand at time of submission)
• Minimum 1 year of recent Operating Room RN experience (less than 2 years accepted)
• Level 1 Trauma OR experience required (experience in high-acuity surgical environments preferred)
• Scrub experience required (must be clearly documented on your profile)
• Clinical expertise in stereotactic neurosurgical cases, neuro spine procedures, and craniotomy cases with tumor resections
• Epic EMR experience preferred (if >1 year, no instructor-led class required)
• Attach Nursys verification (pulled within the last 2 weeks) upon submission
• Requested Time Off (RTO) limited to 3 days; no RTO allowed during first or last week of contract
• Allied positions require state or national certification and/or license
• Locals accepted at the same rate (Chicago OR RN locals welcome)
• Former University of Chicago Medicine staff must be gone 7 months to return as a traveler

Primary Responsibilities (Perioperative / Neurosurgery OR RN Duties)

• Provide safe, efficient perioperative nursing care for complex neurosurgical procedures in a high-acuity Level 1 Trauma OR
• Scrub and/or circulate for advanced neuro cases, maintaining sterile technique and anticipating procedural needs
• Prepare OR suites, specialty instrumentation, and neuro-specific equipment for stereotactic, spinal, and cranial procedures
• Collaborate with neurosurgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical techs, and interdisciplinary team members to support optimal patient outcomes
• Document perioperative care, intraoperative events, and post-op handoffs accurately in Epic electronic medical record
• Participate in scheduled on-call coverage and support urgent/emergent surgical needs as required
• Complete required orientation, annual modules, and maintain certifications/competency for neuro cases (e.g., sterile technique, ACLS/BLS where required)
