Qualifications & Job Requirements
- Active Physician license required (Kentucky license preferred or ability to obtain)
- Minimum 1 year of experience in orthopedic surgery or equivalent operative experience
- Board certification not required (board-certified orthopedic surgeons encouraged to apply)
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
- Fellowship training in orthopedic subspecialty preferred (e.g., sports medicine, joint replacement)
- Strong documentation skills and proficiency in common orthopedic surgical procedures
Key Responsibilities — Orthopedic Surgeon / Locum Tenens Duties
- Provide comprehensive orthopedic surgical care to a diverse patient population in a Level 3 hospital setting
- Perform a range of orthopedic procedures, including:
- Arthroscopy
- Total joint replacement (hip, knee, shoulder, and other joints)
- Joint revision or repair (shoulder, hip, knee, and other joints)
- Tendon release/repair
- Manage acute trauma and inpatient surgical cases as needed
- Provide outpatient clinic coverage and pre-/post-operative patient care
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (ED, anesthesia, PT/OT, nursing) to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Document patient encounters, operative notes, and maintain accurate medical records in the hospital EMR
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to hospital safety and credentialing protocols
