- Location: Parkersburg, WV
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift: 12-hour nights
- Hours Per Week: 36 guaranteed hours
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,930 - $2,030
- Schedule Notes: Weekend coverage is required as scheduled; holiday and occasional call/standby coverage may apply based on unit needs
- Orientation: 2 days total, including computer training and floor shadowing
Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Minimum of 1 year of recent acute care, telemetry, or Med-Surg nursing experience required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips confidently
- Experience with set-rate Cardizem and Amiodarone preferred
- Strong clinical judgment and comfort caring for pre/post cath, chest pain rule-outs, COPD, CHF, pacer, arrhythmia, and observation patients
- Ability to work effectively in a busy, high-turnover hospital environment
- Willingness to float within skillset as needed
Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, compassionate bedside care to telemetry and observation patients
- Monitor cardiac rhythms and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition
- Administer medications and manage set-rate drips per unit protocol
- Support patient care needs including vital signs, EKGs, bladder scans, blood sugars, and ADLs as needed
- Collaborate with the charge nurse, nursing assistants, and interdisciplinary team to support efficient patient flow
- Assist with admissions, discharges, and transfers in a fast-paced acute care setting
- Provide patient education and reinforce plan-of-care instructions
- Maintain accurate documentation in EPIC and uphold quality standards throughout the shift
